Battery flat or worn out
Nothing happens when you turn the key, or just a click. Lights are dim.
Alternator not charging
A new battery goes flat again after a few days. The battery light comes on while driving.
Fan belt snapped
Squealing from the engine, then the battery light — the alternator stops charging.
Spark plugs
The engine cranks but won't catch, or it shakes and dies.
Starter motor
Battery is fine and the lights are bright, but the engine doesn't turn — just one click.
